I am looking for the best place to buy a VHF Motorola HT or JT1000. It needs to be 16 channel, narrowband compliant and have a range of 138-174Mhz. I'm not worried about programming, the only problem is that the only place I've seen them is E-Bay. I don't care if it's used, but is e-bay that the only game in town?

I'm also on the lookout for an EFJohnson 5100 Series.

Besides e-gay, some of the radio forums have them all the time.  The "D" revision of the HT1000 is the latest, and would be capable of narrowband and "standard" channels in the same radio. In super minty condition, I'd never pay more than $150 for the HT.   I've never had a use for the JT, as the prices for those are still above what I paid for my 48ch MT2000 or my 160ch MTS2000.

All of the VHF Jedi HTs have the full VHF bandsplit, so you don't have to worry about that.

The 5100 series will be tougher and more expensive to find, but there was a member here who had/sold some.  If he sees this, he'll chime in as he had extensive use of them in the PRC and EFJ versions.
