I don't recall growing acorn squash last year but may have 2 years ago. Anyway, a small squash plant popped up between my corn and since the corn was tall enough not to be bothered by the squash, I let it grow. It's now growing small squashes. Do you think this is acorn squash? Last year I grew Vegetable Marrow in the same spot, but I harvested all of those squashes and I can't see how any seeds remained.

I don't think I've ever had it grow so well. It figures it grows best when you don't really try.  I did fertilize it and water it well since it was under the corn.

I cut them and use butter and garlic salt. I cook them in a casserole dish with some water.

They're also good if you cut them in half, and bake them after filling the cavity with maple syrup.

Anybody putting Tree squeezin's on good Acorn Squash, needs some fetching up!
Baked until browned, chunked, and tossed in the chopper with some Butter, a tiny square of Bartlet pear, and Peccorino Toscana. Then stuffed into Ravioli...and served in a Pino Griggio butter sauce... Fall isn't here yet. Y'all need to quit teasing.

Always keep the good Romano and Parm. (may not be as old as that, but I don't buy cheap). Would love to see that thread happen. Make sure there's some photos of the plants and the growing so it won't get moved to the cooking forum.

Lucky you! I don't get food popping out of nowhere.
OK, some squash grew in a planter box I had planted squash in this year. It's producing squash for me but at the expense of the seeds I had planted for other things. |
