There seems to be a lot of crappy ponchos out there.  There's the "mil-spec" stuff that sportsmansguide and cheaperthandirt like to sell.  My local surplus store has ponchos, but they each look to be a different manufacturer and fabric.

Can somebody recommend a seller who is selling usgi-stuff?  It's impossible to tell from the pictures.

hey Toyotaman ...get a german Bundeswher poncho ,they are hard wearing and built like the old U.S. ponchos ....find them in the sportsmans guide catalogs also at  charleys's surplus sales ,inc (www.charleyssurplus.com)..i think they are the better surplus option and you can't beat German kit....good luck..vince g. 11b inf....

I bought one of the USGI ponchos from Bradley's Military Surplus. They are just off the Fort Drum post, and get a lot of current GI gear. Mine had two small repairs, but they were well done.

Here's there website: Bradley's Website

As mentioned Bradley's. Really good customer service. Also check Omaha's and Moore militaria. They are both a bit spendy . The Moore militaria site has OD 72-73 poncho's in mint condition. I was issued one from a few years later in basic.Other than the smell it was fine.

Omaha's has both the woodland and the OD poncho's.If I wanted a OD parka I would get one from Moore's.The Omaha's site lists their OD parkas as tacky on the outside. That means not new in wrap. They should have the dry powdery bloom on the outside.
