Nothing special, but its cool to make one off custom stuff. This is simply deer antler and ferro rod.
Just cut antler to a good size that fits in your hand, drill 1/2 way down antler, use bit just a hair smaller than ferro rod and pound rod til you hit bottom. Works like a charm, if your thinking of custom Christmas gifts or such, these would be neat, can include a mora knife or what not to strike it.

I also find hacksaw blades a bit flimsy, hence, reason im working on something else, or just simply use a knife blade.

Oh ok, from your original response it seemed you missed the drift. I can see what you mean about being flimsy. I'm guessing there's a cheap POS tool at a local dollar store that you can repurpose. While in it's original state most tools there are useless, surely one of them has a think strop of metal you can salvage. Either that or find a piece of a bracket that you can sharpen an edge on slightly. -Emt1581 |
