Finally relegated my (very) old and used LBE to back up duty and bought a new SKD Edition Eagle Chest rig.  Pictures to come when I finish the load out (i.e. confirm it by running some drills with it).

Will probably miss the LBE somewhat - I used it for 14 years in the army as well as other stuff, but gotta admit the chest righ feels much nicer.

Had to get tires for my daughters car at Walmart today.
While waiting looked around the camping section and found " Reliance Aqua-Tainer 7-Gallon Water Container " for $7.48. I paid $15.00 for one at Academy about a month ago.
Don't know if it was mis-priced or I overpaid at Academy.
I bought 4 of em though.

placed another order for spare parts for a ar-15

10 more buckets on order for food storage - CostCo now sells 6 gal buckets with good lids.

Going thru last years credit card bills, looking hard at re-occurring items...just cancelled my backup ISP dial up.  Earlthink sure begged for me to keep my old account....not using it why keep it.

Bumped up my house payments - going to see if I can retire my last debt.

Signed up for life line - figured after someone got my discover card numbers and tired to charge 5,502 dollars worth of stuff....only a 2 dollar charge managed to hit the credit card before the card was shut down.

Finished building my first AR.

Got a good deal on 880 rds of 7.62x54r for the M44.

Starting to put back together a really old metal lathe that I got for free.

Will be purchasing a water filter for my BOB soon.

Paid off my credit card, didn't have much on it but it feels good to be back to  $0.00 due. Biggest thing that just happened in my young life is I bought my first house. Not looking forward to the payments, but the added space and freedom is going to be great. Kept the size and cost of the house to within reason, made sure not to get in over my head. Mid August is set for the closing date, pretty excited about that. Probably won't bother with a garden this year, but I'll start gathering ideas for next year.

Ordered a bunch of bullet casting equipment from Midway the other week. Took advantage of RCBS's "buy $300, get $50 back" mail in rebate. So I picked up their Lube-a-Matic 2, their 230gr .45 mold, and a few other odds and ends to get me started. Need to find a couple of tire shops nearby that will supply with wheel weights on the cheap.

Order of business once I'm moved in will be to get my CCW permit (finally).

Plan to order a Team Membership next week.

Two full sets of new tires on both vehicles. $1K

Talked my wife into letting me get a Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle....you know....just in case my M1A stops working. It would be a shame to let all that German and Port surplus go to waste.

Currently using an Eberlestock Operator as my BOB (previous was a Phantom).  Found that I could really over pack the Operator.  I removed some unecessaries and packaged my food by meal.  With an M4 and three 20 round mags + water I am at 52 lbs.  Still heavy, but that does include a temporary setup with a USGI poncho and a Jungle bag.  Right now I don't need the bag (+100 degrees here).  Going to order a lighter bag in the next few weeks and a sil nylon tarp.  Once I get them in, I'll reweigh everything and see how it looks.

Worked in the garden today.
Bought some hand soap and mouthwash refills, and a lot of deodorant on sale.
Patterned my 870 with a bunch of different 00 Buck loads.  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=345499
Made a list of all the gun things I want to get before the 2012 Election/TEOTWAWKI panic starts... $1600 not including guns.
Getting things ready to start my new job.  Back to work after 10 months unemployed and with a 65% raise, but I'll be working 300 miles from my house.  A prepping nightmare...
Since school is out and my wife is off for the summer I've been taking her to the range.  Her pistol is much improved, and she's getting faster with a carbine.

Had my three and half yr old daughter help me plant the garden. Luckily we have a long and growing season here, so we will still get some food out of it. Hopefully the heirloom seeds are still good. I've had them for over 3 years and they were stored in my hot garage.

Going to a gun store to check out their prices on pistols. I turn 21 in 11 days and I'm looking for my carry/shtf gun. Anyone know any reliable sites to purchase pistols from? Also need to look into a holster, I'm 99% sure I'm going to order a crossbreed supertuck, but with the wait being 6-8 weeks I think I'm going to have to go with a cheap IWB holster to hold me over until it comes in.

ETA: Also looking at a good belt, are the Crossbreed belts good?

The supertuck is great. Their belts are ok, but I much prefer the http://www.thebeltman.net/bh112.htm

Great belts. Buds gunshop has worked for me.

Be very deliberate when re-holstering IWB- clothing sticking out snagging the trigger, strings from jackets, etc are a threat.

Took the 2 youngest crabbing with me, 1200' trotline.
They honed some skills, practiced boat handling, and got some good eats.

And the youngest found out out that docking in a hard running tide ain't as easy as it looks.

Tried two new magazines and zeroed the Bushnell TRS-25 on my Underwood M1 Carbine.   The Korean 15 rounders work fine but it looks like I'll need to redo the Ultimak, it seems to have shifted under recoil. I need to replace the barrel band spring with one that's in spec and will keep the mount from moving under recoil.

Also tried two new Metalform 7 round magazines in my Springfield Loaded M1911A1.  Although I've read good things about them they do not work well in the Springer. I got several failures to eject and a couple stovepipes.  60+ trouble free rounds through the gun with known-good Chip McCormick Shooting Star magazines narrowed the problem down to the Metalforms.  Oh well, better to discover this in practice.
