Depending on the size, I'd be happy to host some of your files if needed. I have a half gigabyte or so available.

Shoot me an IM or e-mail to get my contact info if you'd like some help

I'm surprised that the site hasn't gotten around to hosting a definitive collection. Maybe because there are so many other sites with "definitive" survival PDFs. I keep mine on thumbdrives, but I'm always running across random sites that have one or two new PDFs, even if the rest of the stuff is stuff I've seen elsewhere.....

It can happen pretty quick. I'm able to keep mine on a 16 gig thumbdrive by being a bit selective. You get to the point of needing an external drive pretty quick, and that defeats the intent of having the info readily available.

Taggage

I went to the AT&T store yesterday and the salesman actually talked me OUT of getting an I-Phone.  I was like, WTF?  He said they have too many problems and I should stick with the blackberry.  I planned on getting other opinions anyway but the app that you mentioned sounds very cool.

Is there any way to use the I-Phone to read PDF's from an external hard drive?

with the good reader app you can connect your iphone to your PC via wifi and download them to your phone. i am not sure if you would be able to read them unless there was a file stored on your iphone.

I break mine down into the following categories:

- "Literature". This ranges from fictional on-line stuff like Lights Out to classic stuff like H.G. Wells, Jack London, etc. Also any sheerly political files I think are important enough to keep on the drive.
- "Alternate Energy". Subfolders for wind, solar, hydro, etc.
-"Animals and Insects, Domesticated": Subfolders for each  of your typical domesticated animals, plus beekeeping.
-" Animals, Wild". Pretty much anything animal related that doesn't fit into the domesticated label.
-"Clothing". Everything related to the making of, etc.
-"Communication". Self-explainatory.
- "Defense". Not self-defense, covers primarily fortifications.
- "Equipment": subfolders for handtools, gennies, pumps etc etc. Also a subfolder for what I call "old knowledge"...the older manuals that you see on some of the links people put up. In any of the categories I try to differentiate the modern material from the historical stuff.
-"Food". Subfolders for each type of food: honey, beans, bread, beverages, MREs, canning/drying/preserving, wild edibles, food-borne illnesses,"old knowledge", etc.
- "Gardening and Agriculture". Self-explainatory once again.
- "How to". Mostly a collection of stuff that didn't seem to fit into any other category, but of a "how to " do something.
- "Hunting/ Fishing/ Trapping". Sub-folders on each.
- "Lists / BOBs/ Kits and caching". Subfolders on each.
- "Medical". Subfolders on cadavers, basic/ advanced first aid, infectious diseases, insect and animal-borne diseases, folk remedies, childbirth, austere medical conditions  , heat/ cold injuries, etc.
-" NBC"
- "NGO". A few possibly useful things put out by feel-good international help organizations that didn't fit anywhere else.
-." Non-Firearms FMs/ TMs"
- "Prepare". Anything that  seems to deal strictly with pre-planning.
- "sanitation".
- "Shelter and Construction" Anything related to that, with a subfolder for Old Knowledge.
- " Skilled Trades". Blacksmithing, etc.
- Survival"- Subfolders on cold weather, hot weather, survival manuals, etc
- "Tables and Conversions". Just a  few things that fit into that category.
- "Transportation".
- "Water". Everything from collecting to storing, etc.
- "Weapons and Marksmanhip". Subfolders for ammo, armorers info, crew served weapons, individual weapons, foreign weapons, marksmanship instruction, non-standard weapons, and a misc folder. "Crew served" folder has sub folders for each weapons system. "Foreign weapons" has a  subfolder for each weapon. "Individual weapons" folder has subfolders for black powder, current US military weapons, obsolete US military weapons, civilian weapons, demo, sniper weapons and optics. "Marksmanship" folder has subfolders for  weapons-related FMs/ TMs/ TCs, Marksmanship instruction, targets, courses of fire for various weapons, safety, range operations, Old Knowledge. Each of the current and obsolete folders has additional subfolders for each weapon.

Thats what I've found helps me find what I'm looking for fairly easily.

Thats what I've found helps me find what I'm looking for fairly easily.

that helps, thanks.  now to start sorting.

Some general prepedness PDFs from this site:

http://www.seattle.gov/emergency/publications/

I've steered away from posting links to other boards, but since this board seems to be hosting quite a few PDFs I hadn't seen elsewhere, I thought I'd make an exception. Registration is required, but no minimum post count required before you can download, as with some other boards:

http://www.bushcraftusa.com/forum/downloads.php?

There are chapters 2 through 4 online; here is chapter 4, about saws:

It is a dirty job but I suppose someone throughout history has had to do it. if PDFs on sewers and their history/ upkeep  are your thing, look here:

Thought these commo  PDF that were posted here before needs repeating:

Little help please - I am heading to the beach this weekend and want to tote some reading material. I have scanned many of the pdfs posted, but there are many...

I would like some material on small unit tactics with emphasis on security. Think squad size.

Thanks in advance!

I dunno if I'd want to read some FMs on the beach. Lets face it, they don't write FMs for pleasure reading. Take some SHTF fiction and enjoy the sun and fun.....
