It's fun. Course, it takes about 6 months for my eyes to "uncross".  Only thing I "farmed out" was the final coating.  9ft 9wt 2pc for salt.  My next will be 4pc.

Nice.  I built a 6wt Orvis Trident (Powermatrix10).  I used it a lot in WA fishing saltwater.  It broke right above the ferrule one evening when I hooked a very late Silver salmon.

I don't know if the tip section wasn't well seated or if the wraps at the ferrule weren't good enough, but it just gave up LONG before it should have.

BTW, Orvis guarantee doesn't cover blanks.

I have only built one flyrod, an 8 foot 3 piece four weight using a Diamondback All American blank, Nickel Silver hardware, and Fuji Hardloy guides.  This is my favorite rod.

It has been broken three times and repaired by me twice.  It is presently a 7 foot 10 inch 3 piece after a fat flyshop owner sat on the table where my rod was laying and snapped my tip top.
