So it's come to this. Some of you may remember me posting a while back about some knee problems i've been having. Well after a month of therapy and no sign of improvement, i'll be going under the knife.

The surgeon will be going in to do a Lateral Release (shaving the ligaments to release tension) and remove/repair any damaged meniscal tissue and cartilage.

My question is this:

What are my chances of being able to return to full duty after this? I'm an 11B in a D Co. (Heavy Weapons). Surgeon says 6-8 weeks after surgery i should be able to return to normal activity. Will this kind of surgery be disqualifying?

edited for grammer.

If nothing is torn and or going to be seperated and reattached, you'll be 100% again soon.  I rehabed my knee with a bunch of guys with injuries similar to yours and they were in and out.  I was there several months but I had severe problems.
