I went and talked with a National Guard recruiter yesterday.

Being retired from active duty they can't take me.  It has to do with racking up more retirement points and the law says you can only retire once.  

And I was starting to get geared up about the idea of wrenching on Apaches.  

Bummer.

You are lucky that they still allow you to even retire once.
