He just got back from 1 year on Korea, signed into his new unit, and went wheels up.

All of you take care.

Thanks for your service.  What branch are you in?  How long will you be gone this time?

Let me know before you leave so I can add you to the list.

USAF.  I'm lucky - now my unit deploys for only 75 days at a time.  Then we get 3-4 months at home before we go back.  Last year I was over A-stan for a total of 6 months.  Unless something happens in Iraq this year should be better.  I'll try to let you know before I leave again.

Looks like a few more names are going to be added to the list REAL soon. Most likely I won't be in the sand so I'm not going to post my address. Please do send care packages to those overseas, it really helps morale to get a nice box of goodies from home!

When and where is my unit going?
It depends on which supplementally revised amended modification change addendum rumor you heard last.

A good friend of mine and member here, Vacquero, is currently deployed overseas.  He's been deployed since ~November and appears to be okay.  I'm hesitant to post his contact info as I'm not sure what effect that has on OPSEC (his deployment area is included in address).  I send him care packages every week or so, though, so any kind words or ideas of things to send are appreciated.

I only know a few people from these forums in real life, however I've got many friends over there and in other places now, but to those from this board and not from this board who are going and who have gone, thanks.  We'll keep the home fires burning.

I just came back from over there, due to my wife being in the hospital.  It was nothing life-threatening, but my Commander and First Shirt thought it would be best if I returned to get her fixed up.  When she gets back to normal, I will throw my hat in the ring again.
I was gone for a little over a month.  I can tell you all that it is "no-joke" over there.
I think the best chem-refresher I have ever attended was there, go figure.
I did get to spend some time with my brother over there, he was at a camp to the south of mine.  This was not the way I wanted to come home, but to make sure my wife is better, I'll take it.  Besides, there's a lot more of the game to play!  I'll get my turn again.
Thanks for everyone thinking of us, It REALLY does mean a lot.

Well, here I am celebrating a month and a half on active duty. I'm one of the lucky ones, who has a laptop computer with an internet connection in the barracks.

That's beside the point. Just wanted to add that my girlfriend, not a member of this board, just shipped off to Air Force basic training. She decided the best way she could contribute right now was to lend her skills to the USAF for the duration.

I was supposed to leave for Iraq next week. "Wheels Up" has been delayed one more week due to equipment being delayed enroute to port.

Hopefully I can get to a PC once in a great while to check out this awesome site.

I've only been a member here for a week or two. I wish I would have discovered this great site years ago!

Best regards,

Brent

82ndAbn, I flew back into Marsh AFB on 29 May 2003.  After Kuwait, Iraq, then Kuwait again I'm finally back into the states.  I'm still in SoCal and should be back home soon.  We received so much support from everyone at home.  I don't know how to thank you!
