In Tx 17 isnt a kid.

That suspect was legally an adult and responsible for his own actions (in this case attepempted capital murder).

He got what he asked for.

Glad he's gonna make it.

That is a high percentage of hits on the suspects part.

Was he shooting during the initial contact or was this while he was out of the car? Perhaps prior to a pat down?

I got a little more info the evening. Apparently there was a domestic disturbance out in the county and dispatch sent a city officer to back. He made scene and observed the suspects vehicle leaving. He attempted a traffic stop and when they came to a stop the suspect immediately exited and opened fire striking the officer 5 times with a .38 revolver. The officer returned fire and struck the suspect 11 times.

ETA- the suspect was 16 y/o

Good shooting by the suspect. Better shooting by the officer. This should be a great dashcam training video.

Glad he's gonna be alright.

And apparently answered, JPS is one of the best trauma units in the area. I was involved in a traffic accident about 15yrs ago
and was taken to another medical center in Ft. Worth. My mom was pretty stressed when she got there until the nurse told her
that everything was basically precautionary..."If it had been serious, he would have gone to JPS." All I really remember is that
statement, and being strapped to a backboard for 4 hrs while they ran their tests/x-rays etc, and having to pee like you wouldn't
believe.

Prayers for a speedy recovery.
