We averaged 10 a day! Have done up to 25 per day..
Accidents reports w/diagrams are more work. My (ex) department average 230,000 calls a year. |

wow! you guys must write reports for everything While I average about 15 calls per day... I only write about 5 reports a day We average 160,000 case numbers a year... but less than half of all calls actually get a case number. |

It really depends on where you work. 12 per day (including accidents) was my norm at my previous job......now I average no more than half that.

For you guys writing over 10 reports a day, how many of those are dispatched report calls vs. self-initiated investigations.

Don't know how many I personally have, but my department just went over 9,000 case numbers for the year not including accident reports and traffic citations.

We are around 45,000 calls for service so far this year. I average around 25-35 calls per shift and usually 2 reports. Usually 1 officer initiated (drug) and 1 larceny/B&E/etc.... That's not counting arrest reports which is basically just the person's info. you arrested and what you charged them with.
Some of you guys must take reports for everything! |

Different departments consider different activity or contacts to be "reportable actions, likewise, different departments may consider different types of documentation to be reports.
I used to work for a municipal police department that considered any traffic citation as a arrest, but didn't consider the paper it was written on as a report. I don't think a citation is either of these. |

I did 283 DUI Reports in one year, in addition to the other ones. Does that count?

no clue on my totals, but in March, April and May I handled 403 reports, plus an additional 350 non-file incidents, which are traffic stops, directed patrols, etc.
guess that makes around 8-900 estimated for the year? The last file I was issued was about an hour ago and it was #53033, we start at 1 on the first of the year. |

Meh, you're a trooper though. Speed, Seatbelts, and OWI. That's what Troopers do.
