Mine is, we have a ton of old ass MP5's and two Thompson MG's.

I've told them I could broker a new MP5 for the old ones, straight across.

We still have 2 transferable Thompsons.

I helped the PD do a swap with Frank Ferrante (NH) previously. We had an AC556, S&W 76 and a Reising that were swapped for 8 semi-auto CAR-15s plus some other gear. This was probably 3-4 years ago. Local dealer offered 1/2 as much in trade. Frank is a Class 3 Dealer/Collector and the local place is just a law enforcement supplier who doesn't typically sell Class 3 weapons (he would have brokered them out).

My understanding is that the 2 Thompsons would net $20-30K at least in swap value.

AZ-K9, if your department has a bunch of old MP5s, they are probably pre-samples, not transferables, and they are worth about half as much as transferables.

mmmmm. MP5...
Not the topic of the thread but doesn't change the fact I want one.

Yes, straight across. How much does a new MP5 run?

We have 2 transferable MP5 A3's.  They are not in use due to their age, just sit in a safe.  Word is they will be destroyed as we are acquire some M16 commandos to replace them.

Our armory has a bunch (at least 10) old Thompsons. BUT considering that they are going to trash all our old 870s (switched to carbines), there's no way in hell they'd sell MGs to civvies. Too bad.

Let the powers that be know that they could get 10 commandos for one MP5, maybe wake the pennypinchers up?

We have 6 FA lowers from the the SMG's we parted out  sitting on a shelf in the armory.  Wonder what they could get for those?
