Correction Officer Jeffrey Alan Wroten died Saturday from injuries sustained after being shot in the face by an Inmate he was guarding at Washington County Hospital early Thursday

Officer Wroten 44 was the only Officer guarding Inmate Brandon Morris when about 5am a struggle ensued and Morris seized control of Officer Wroten's weapon and fired

The 20 year old Inmate escaped forced a Taxi Driver to dirve North but eventually crashed
Morris escaped on foot but was caught
Morris is serving an eight year sentence for Assault Robbery and Handgun Convictions

Officer Wroten a four year Veteran of the Maryland State Correction Division also worked as a Police Officer in South Carolina and as a Correction Officer in both Florida and West Virginia

Officer Wroten will be laid to rest on Wednesday

Why shoot a CO/LEO/officer for an 8-year turn?  Doesn't even say how far into it he was.  Does MD do needlepoint?

Believe it or not....MD still does needle point!
Far and few between, but we do it.
