Saw this scrawled on the wall the other night in a less then stellar abode.

Do any of you law-enforcement type recognize it, and can give me an idea as to who I was really
dealing with, or was one of the oxygen-thieves just releasing his creative side w/ a spraycan?

That is the number "1037" (I think) in the pattern.

What part of VA did you see it?  If it's was anywhere between Fredericksburg and N. virginia I can pass it on to someone on the gang taskforce.....

I think it's maybe related to the Peak Ammunition Theory.

Check your 10 codes. 10-37 means "gang activity"

Ashburn, in Northern VA

ETA: Matter of fact, I also saw it in the Ashburn Taco Bell this past weekend.

I was thinking - could it be a map?

Not any 10 code I've ever heard of.

The list I linked to is the APCO - Association of Public Safety Communication Officials - list.

I'm familiar with the fact that local agencies may alter them to fit their own needs. Most, though, use the APCO list.

Looks like NE to me.

I don't know what it might stand for though.

Might be a strip map too, but I doubt it.

Tanker06,

You say that you saw it in a residence and also outside a Taco Bell in the Loudoun County area?. Is that all so far?

I'll forward to my gang guys but I don't know how fast I'll get a response, so be patient.

SIGNAL4L,

10-37 means "suspicious" at my dept...

i.e. "Unit 309, respond to 1234 Martin Luther King Blvd. 10-17 reports that a 10-37 vehicle, occupied 3 times, is parked in front of the residence.  10-17 saw vehicle circle their block earlier and doesn't recognize the vehicle or occupants. Code 2"

Yep, that's it. If you get a response, I'm curious if it was anything, if not, no sweat either.....

As mentioned above, different departments use different 10 codes. Im aware of 1 or 2 in my area that dont use any. I google searched the term "police 10 codes" and came up with the above referenced link. It is not entirely unreasonable to assume the oxygen thieves who painted your graffitti did something similar and tried to adopt some police terminology.

Also consider that the numbers may be code for letters. 10-3-7 in the alphabet is JCG.

Could also be some kind of variation on a blackhorse style code.
