Last year I saw a worksheet for law enforcement to show what you can use for deductions.

I thought I saw it here in the LE section.

I checked the search function but this met with neg. results.

Does anyone here have it ?

Thanks

Don't you have to have like $3000.00 worth of stuff to claim?  I thought it was some ridiculous amount?

How much per item can you go until you have to have receipts?  I keep a lot of receipts but don't know if I keep enough of them to make it worthwhile.

I have never heard of that.   I could never get close to that.  I guess firearm purchases would get you there, if not issued.

You have to have a certain amount of itemized deductions in order to be able to claim them. I forget what the amount is though....

If you have a house payment then you might be close enough with the interest.  If not then it's unlikely that you'll be able to claim that much.  I keep trying but can't get higher than the standard deduction.

I am not sure either, this will be my first year with a house and lots of deductions I could not take before.

You can easily make the cutoff without factoring in a house payment. I wrote off damn near $10k worth of stuff last year and I was living in an apartment at the time.

Now I have a house, house improvements, with all the receipts, etc etc. plus medical, uniforms, guns, gear etc etc.   Should be interesting.

All of my write-offs came from gear, one gun, and schools (Blackwater, etc). Mileage to the schools and associated costs also helped add up quick.

The deductions list is missing a couple things.  You can also deduct INFORMANT FEE's which do not require reciepts and equpiment for surveillance operations which can be dang near anything.

Great list, what do you think about deducting guns you dont use on duty?  How about a big gun safe?  I sometimes put my duty pistol in there.
