LEO's,

I was clocked going 41mph in a construction zone with a 25mph posted speed limit.  I was pulled over and let go with a written warning.  I just knew I was going to get a huge ticket.  Anyway the officer was really cool, noticed my CCL, asked me if I had my gun (which I didn't or I would have told him up front).  He asked me to slow it down and I was on my way.  So I was curious if someone could tell me what my fine for speeding would have been if he would have nailed me.

You could call your local municipal court and ask them what the normal fine is for  41 in a 25 then just double it.  Doesnt OK have a "fine dobles in construction zone" law?

In NY that would be about $125 before surcharge, sometimes double because it was a construction zone.

Yes, thats true.  Thats why I was curious.  I figure this LEO saved me a big chunk of change and he got his point across at the same time.  I haven't went above the speed limit since, LOL.

Here in CA... it's $85 (16-25 over enhance) plus $198x2 (fine plus double for construction zone) plus $17 surcharge =$408

Varies slightly by county.

I got a ticket for 41 in a 25 once in WA. I talked the judge down to $100 from something over $200.

My all time best was a base fine of $421. Only had to actually pay $350 though.

Thing about speeding tickets is that as soon as you get around the bend you gotta make up for all that time you spent sitting and waiting.

Keep going......

16mph over in NY would fall under the following penalties:

11-30mph over the posted limit

Minimum $90  Maximum $300 and 4 points on your licence.   Double that for a construction zone and tack on a $55 surcharge.

Or

15 days imprisonment

Now, if it is your 2nd violation in 18 months tack on $225 and if it is your 3rd tack on another $480.

Welcome to NY and don't get caught speeding.

Eta- Your worse case scenario as a first time violator - $355

Not sure what the fine is up here now for speeding and whether or not a construction zone impacts on it but..you walk for a week when you get nailed for speeding.

Striker, you are back east ain't ya?

Out here it is $125 give or take  for "minor" speeding, 20 above, maybe as high as 30 above (KPH for our Southern neighbours), and construction zones are double. But that is in Alberta, British Columbia is higher yet, though only by maybe 15%

the minimum fine in PA is $105 (after all the fees, funds and court costs) for 5 over with no other factors.  Fines are doubled in a work zone.  You would have been in for a big ticket along with getting you licence suspended for 15 days for being more than 11 over in a work zone.

Where was this at? Should have asked over in the Oklahoma Hometown forum. More than 1 fuzz over there.

41 mph in a 25 mph posted construction zone;

Base fine: $57.00 (doubled for construction zone = $114.00)

EMS: $10.00

CAT: $40.00

Costs: $30.50

J.C.P.: $10.00

$114.00 + $10.00 + $40.00 + $30.50 + $10.00 = $204.50

Motorists convicted of driving +11 mph over the posted speed limit wil automatically loose their license for 15 days. 16-15 mph over the speed limit also gets you a 4 point violation on your license.
