At least three police officers have been shot, and one of them is dead after they went to a home at 3634 Capital Heights with a search warrant, Sgt. Don Kelly said.

"During the execution of that search warrant, some shots were apparently fired from inside the residence toward the officers. We believe that at least some of our officers also returned fire. All we know right now is we have three Baton Rouge Police and narcotics officers who have been shot, and at least one suspect has been shot," Kelly said.

The three officers were assigned to the narcotics unit, Kelly said.

At the scene, Kelly would not provide names or conditions.

However, City-Parish Administrative Officer Walter Monsour told the Metro Council that one officer was dead and another seriously wounded.

WBRZ's Ben Lemoine learned that the dead officer was shot in the head, and the seriously wounded officer was also shot in the head and was taken into surgery at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

The third officer was shot in the leg, and his wounds are not life-threatening, Monsour said.

The suspect was also wounded, Monsour said.

Witnesses said the suspect was bleeding on the ground and in handcuffs before he was taken away in an ambulance.

WBRZ has since confirmed reports that the suspect has also died.

Baton Rouge Police Chief Jeff LeDuff said an investigation is ongoing.

You live in BR?  My department has been following this closely, as one of our fellow Troopers' brother is among one of the wounded, and my section L.S.P. works very close with B.R. City.
It just makes you incomprehensibly infuriated, and yet unbelievably sad at the same time . . . . . .

Boy, good thing SWAT was not used.

No matter that it may have saved the life of an officer....we can't upset the trolls with the "militarization" tactics of the police.  After all, we all know that innocent drug users are not violent and are simply victims of the illegal "war on drugs" used by the JBTs to take away consitutional rights...
