End of Watch: Sunday, January 9, 2005Sergeant Stevenson and other officers had responded to a liquor store on North Central Avenue to investigate reports of an armed male who was acting strangely. The first officer on the scene was shot and wounded by the suspect. This officer took cover behind a car and returned fire as Sergeant Stevenson arrived at the scene. Sergeant Stevenson exited his patrol car and immediately engaged the suspect, firing eight shots before being shot.
Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham

End of Watch: Sunday, March 20, 2005Sergeant Graham was shot and killed in an ambush. The shooting occurred in front of his home, which is in a rural area near Van Buren, Missouri. The officer had just completed his shift and arrived at his home when he was ambushed in his driveway.
A suspect was charged with Sergeant Graham's murder on March 29, 2005. The suspect had been under investigation by Sergeant Graham for leaving the scene of a fatal accident on November 26, 2004.
Detective Donald R. Young

End of Watch: Sunday, May 8, 2005Detective Young was shot and killed at a rental hall on West Mississippi Street. He and another officer were in uniform, working an off duty job at a private celebration, when a man approached both officers from behind and opened fire on them in an unprovoked attack. The shooting occurred at approximately 0100 hours as patrons were leaving as the event ended. Detective Young was killed and the second officer was wounded.
Sergeant William McEntee

End of Watch: Tuesday, July 5, 2005Sergeant McEntee was shot and killed after responding to complaints about fireworks being set off in an apartment complex on Alsobrook Street.
When he arrived at the scene he began speaking with a 13-year-old boy while still seated in his patrol car. A subject unrelated to the original call approached the patrol car from the passenger side and opened fire, striking Sergeant McEntee several times. His patrol car then traveled a short distance and crashed into a tree. The suspect approached the patrol car again and shot Sergeant McEntee several more times.
Police Officer Nels (Dan) Niemi

End of Watch: Monday, July 25, 2005Officer Nels Niemi was shot and killed in an ambush attack while investigating a disturbance call on Doolittle Drive.
Officer Niemi responded to Doolittle Drive at 2300 hours. As Officer Niemi spoke to some of the residents, a man drove up to the scene and engaged Officer Niemi in conversation. Without warning, the man produced a handgun and shot Officer Niemi several times, killing him.
Anyone who wears a uniform and thinks they aren't a target is kidding themselves. Stay Safe.
