I worked a DUI checkpoint last  ( i just woke up )

Had a DUI at  2345 and my first lucky customer of the new year was a  28 y/o for possesion of a control substance and a DUI at 0120.

Arrest warrant, 6450€ or 180 days in jail. He didn't have the money.
Today none. Seems the crooks were sleeping it off during the afternoon.

My last arrest was a few days ago for Domestic Violence, off until Monady....... lets see who the luckey 1st arrest for 05 will be.  Stay tuned.

Same here. Warrant was for unpaid traffic fines.

ETA: Got my 1st arrest of the new year at 1025 hours, this date.

Violation of probation/aggrevated assault on a public servant
Violation of parole;unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

Guy is also prime suspect in a string of burglarys that our CID is investigating.

OK, it's not mine, but my brother is a State Trooper in NC.
He caught a guy doing 108 in a 55 trying to get to a party before the stoke of midnight.
Yes, he was drunk too.
No, he didn't make it to the party.

12/31/04 2157 hrs - Transportation of Methamphetamine, Possession of a loaded firearm, Under influence of a controlled substance while personally armed with a firearm, Possession of a stolen firearm, and felony driving without a license with a cracked windshield.

01/01/05 0150 hours - Four brothers arrested for attempted murder.  Fight at local conveience store, four brothers one victim.   Two take leg bail, picked up a block away.   2 officers fight with two of the brothers, both in custody.   Victim cut from right ear to middle of throat, then slashed through tendons on left hand and 10" cut on chest.  

While at hospital taking statements at about 0300 hours,  had a victim of a carjacking/kidnapping/attempt murder come into the hospital.  

All from a town of 10,400.     Gotta love the new year.

Well traditionally in Baltimore, all types discharge their weapons at midnight. I work in a "Gun Squad" where are job is to attack the violent crime in the city! Since 1998 we have been arresting people for handgun crimes on New years eve, where years prior we were advised to seek shelter at midnight!
It sounds like a warzone approaching midnight. The worst year was 99 into 2000. Cops were getting shot at, and just about everyone in the hood was strapped! We ended up with 12 seperate handgun violations that night. This New Years eve, we ended up with 7 Handgun Violations, a few before, and a few after New Years....

2004- 368(b)/242/591 Felony Elder Abuse/assault/disabling phone line- 28 yo tweek son beat the hell out of 72 yo mom for making his tuna sandwich wrong, yanked phone out of wall and threw her out of her own house.  Contacted mom in her robe @ 7-11/son GOA.  

2005- Warrant for 422/273.6 (stalking/violation of restraining order)  35yo ex-husband.

First arrest of '05: illegal alien (lebanese), bit of irony there, he 'booked' a journey to the UK, but the smugglers ripped him off, he thought he was in London, priceless face when we told him he's actually in Berlin, Germany.
Well, he's back home in Beirut now.
