Just like to see what you all have to say on this! Also if you could please state why you CC or open carry. I worked with an officer in Texas who open carried shirt tucked in and had an old style cowboy belt and holster as his off duty rig. Just for fun what is the holster you use?

Pocket or crossbreed is what I use to carry.

Open carry is needlessly drawing attention and painting a target on you. If I need to use a weapon off duty it will be my opponent's last surprise. My department requires CC but I wouldn't do it any other way.

For these same reasons I discourage open carry by civilians as well despite it being legal. It has nothing to do with politics, it is a tactical error.

Off duuty, I CC. No need to advertise, ya know.

Usually use either Blackhawk Serpa CQC, or a Galco Pancake.

I CC when I am not working. However, when I go to court, I partially open carry, IWB holster, with a shirt tucked in and no jacket, so its a partial CC/OC I suppose.

Concealed by choice and by policy and/ or state law.

I use Raven concealment holsters. One is molded for a light, but I don't normally carry it.

CC State law allows OC, but policy requires CC (requires CC on duty unless in uniform, as well, though no one seems to pay attention to that rule except me and a few others.)

When off-duty I carry IWB in a Comp-tac Minotaur at all times. We had a similar discussion in the Iowa Hometown forum because of new legislation. I personally feel you lose the tactical edge the moment you open carry. If you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time and are carrying open you are going to be the first target. Just my personal thoughts on the topic.

CC by choice as well as by policy. IWB Don Hume holster for my XD. Pocket holster for my Kel Tec the one time every two or three years when I'm required to abide by dress code that won't let me conceal a full-size pistol.

It all depends on what I'm doing / where I'm going. I'd honestly say that 98% of the time, they're both hidden. If I'm going to something where I'm required to wear some kind of uniform (IE: 5.11 & Polo, other "soft" uniform, or BDU's), then yeah I'd open carry w/ badge, two mags, pair of nickel plated bracelets, and possibly a flashlight. However, even then, I'll still have on a North Face jacket or something to cover it up until I get to my destination.

To me:

Open Carry out of uniform = Unneccessary attention & "Shoot Me First"

99.99992% of the time, I CC in whatever holster I may decide to use that day. I can think of twice that I've OC'd in 5 years and both times, I went to the range.

I usually wear a crossbreed supertuck, but if I'm carrying my Glock 27, I have one of those spring clips built into it.

Department policy requires that firearms be concealed when off-duty. I never open carried before I was a cop, and I wouldn't now if policy allowed it. I carry concealed when going to training also. I have, in the past, open carried to training (with badge displayed), but that was when I worked for a department that had a mandatory training uniform that was not CC friendly. My department now just requires we dress neatly, and that gives me plenty of leeway to dress around a concealed handgun or two.

I cc most of the time. Our policy states that if you open carry then you must have your badge beside it. Training meetings or late night runs to walmart are the times i open carry.

I am plain clothes so I open carry with a badge on my belt for work. It really does attract attention. People often stare esp. until they notice the badge. It can be a little annoying I guess. Def. don't want that type of attention off duty so I CC if I carry at all off duty.
