my dept uses paca i've been wearing a level II for about 4 years years now. i have no complaints. i dont think its as thin as some of the others, the new one may be thinner im due a new one we'll see.

I’ve never used this specific vest so I can’t give you any first hand experiences.

I do notice on PACA’s web site that this vest has an areal density of .93 lbs/psf.  That is lighter than many (probably most) other IIIA vests of other materials.

However, personally I would prefer to avoid any vest with Spectra Shield or Spectra Fabric in it since these materials don’t appear to handle high velocity rounds too well.  (Keep in mind that some IIIA vests will defeat rounds that other IIIA vests of different materials won’t defeat.)

If I were buying a vest right now, my first choice would be one made of Zylon (preferably from Second Chance).  However, they are right expensive!
