It's raining. I go out to the garage to get something, put the garage door up a little bit. In runs a cat i've never seen before. A very cute, very purry cat. Me being me, I dry him off and pet him a little. No collar, but it's clear he's somebody's pet. We shove him back out of the garage and shut the door.
Fast forward 3 hours. The Mr. leaves to get dinner, I go out in the garage. Cat's sitting by the back door. He won't leave. We can't keep him, and it's dark and raining so i doubt there are signs up regarding a missing cat. What am I supposed to do with this little rugrat?!?!?!?! (For all you cat haters, do NOT post anything about shooting it or burying it in the back yard. ) |

Call local LEO'. They'll take it to the humane socity. Hope that helps.

The things just scared and cant find it's way home. Let him hang in the garage for the night. You can always ask around tomorrow to find out who it belongs to. |
Yes, I can keep him in the garage overnight. If I feed him, though, he'll keep coming back. If that happens, The Mr. will kill me.
feed him and keep him in the garage overnight--he will go home, if he wants to, as soon as its clear
if he stays, find a no-kill shelter or cat foster group in your area two of my cats have done overnight trips away--sometimes cats just need a vacation |
If i feed him, i'm afraid he'll never leave, though. |
nah, he doesnt like the rain
put him outside tomorrow, if its clear, and ignore him--he will go home |
Tell the Mr. to pound salt........................ Yoy got him an MP5 after all |
Please ..... we may appear dense at times , but there isn't a married man alive who actually believes what he says goes |
if it were me, i'd drink two bottles of whiskey and then bang the cat. but that's just me
What are you talking about. I'm the master of my domain.................................. the garage!!! edit: My cat stayed in a neighbors garage one night in crappy weather. Came home the next morning. |

Put some tuna on the neighbor's front porch. Kidding! Our community has a nice program now that gets cats adopted or neutered, whatever. Likely, the cat is just looking for more places to get some food. They do roam from house to house. You are probably not it's only mark.

SP1?
That is PRECISELY hos I wound up with my second cat many years ago... Long story, and I no longer own cats (one died and the other my friend's co-worker has due to my allergies) but both cats were strays found in foul weather. Coincidence? I think not! Buggers PLAN it that way, I swear! |
Yyyyyyyyyeah |
I was wondering if you were ever going to grace us with your presence again. Nice to see you're alive, baldy. |
The cat is not going to die if you don't feed it.
Let it hang out till it stops raining then give it the boot. |
Hey now, us bald guys need love to you know.... |
well if its clear he is someones pet, put up a few posters in the local area, a lil kitten couldn't have wandered too far from home. If no what DC said, take it to a nk shelter.
Okay, so we put signs up around the neighborhood and nobody called. The cat left yesterday night and we haven't seen him since. We come home from running errands today and my neighbor comes running over and asks us if we want a cat. I said 'Is it black and white and really purry?' We figure out it's the same cat...apparently he had gone over to her house and decided to stay for awhile. We've now contacted several people that might want him, and we're also calling a couple of places tomorrow that could take him in. Worst case scenario, i'll have to sell my soul to The Mr. in order to keep him. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that doesn't happen.

Cranky bastage. Find me a new one, or quit your bitching. ETA: By the way, I don't want to know what you've been doing in the DVD aisle at Tarjay. Perv. |
I have no clue what DVD's at Target have to do with anything, but I agree with the suckage observation. |
Now that hurts. Just hurts. |
You only hurt the ones ya love...And I love ya Blondie, |
Hey, there's nothing wrong with the DVD section at Target...
Well, there is that "Carmen Electra Aerobic Striptease" video that's a little weird:
I've been working in the video department the past few nights. |
A friend of mine bought that and says it's a terrible workout. She said it was a waste of money. |
So are those S Factor DVDs...the only true exercise you could get from them would be the after affects of your SO watching you do the DVD
ETA: Sorry, I didn't realize I was in the kitten thread until after I posted. Meow. |
Ha, ha. Where do you live? I haven't lived anywhere LEO would give the next fart about a call like that. Most places, the humane society will not respond, nor will they take it if you bring it in. No kill cat shelter, or give it to a friend. Good luck on that one.... Last resort would be to break out the fried rice and some soy sauce. |
um, you now have a pet cat, get it some food, and take it to the vet tomorrow. Tell your husband it's a done deal and he gets no booty if he argues. The cat is yours now, MANUP!
My wife and I have a few and they were all strays, I love them all. |
It's been 5 days... if the cat is still in your house, I'm pretty sure it's yours by now.
no shooting or burying comments??
uh, ok, how about bridge, rock, burlap bag. is that allowed? |
common law cat?? |
Update: The cat is now living with a really nice chica who adores him.
Whew! |
Cool. All but 1 of my cats have been "strays" IMO, they make the bestest house cats. And really, the 1 was ORIGINALLY a "stray". Though my next will LIKELY be from the Humane Society. (Still, technically a "stray" most likely.) |
