Ok, so we had babies while I was gone. MrGH saved the surprise until I got home to tell me.
Let me introduce you to the baby Brichardi. It is kinda hard to see them. We aren't sure how many are there, but we have seen 8-10 for sure.

Those are fresh water fish right? Did you have to do anything special to get them to breed? Light adjustments?
I have saltwater fish(about 3 years now) and they have never reproduced. Any ideas???

And before anyone say it....

Showing them fishy porn is not a valid option!

yes they are fresh water. I don't know what MrGh done or if he done anything special. The yellow ones in the back have been reproducing like crazy. We get a good store credit when we take them in and sell them.
I will have the MrGH talk to you about the fishy, he is the guru on that subject and luckily for you we even had a salt tank for a few years.

they have been trying too but the mom and dad have been chasing them off to the other side of the tank and beating on them pretty hard. They are very protective of the babies and for the most part the babies stay hidden under the rock pictured. They have the gravel dug out completely and we can see in from the bottom of the tank.

<gasp>

Those are so cute!  The adults won't eat them?

ETA- read the whole thead before posting, I know, I know.  They hide under the rocks.  That's great that the parents are so involved.  Hard to find that these days.

How true is that! I think alot of parents could take a lesson from the fish!

Hey SigZiggy Of the 8-10 babies we had, 4 of them survived. Last week though we noticed more new babies swimming where the 4 older babies are. We counted about 15-20. Last night, I seen another pile of swarming little fishes!! I haven't been able to count them yet, but it looks to be about 15-20 more!!!
All I can say is I hope to God that the fish is the only thing in this house that keeps having babies!! Get BUSY BUSY BUSY, that's alot of little scarves and stuff to knit.
