Good Night! I'm about ready to shoot someone [or something!] 3 weeks ago my daughter comes to me complaining that her head itches. I look her head over and do not see anything odd except that her lymph nodes are swollen [badly swollen]. It was Christmas time so I said if it bothered her the next day to let me know and I'll take her in. {the next day being Christmas Eve}. The next day came and went and no complaints but Christmas day it was so bad she was crying. Her lymph nodes were swollen to the size of large marbles so I told her that I would take her to the doctor Monday. Monday to the doctor and he immediately diagnosed Mono. There has been a few kids out of her school with Mono, none of which she's associated with btw but none the less the dx made sense to me [not knowing anything about mono]. I kept her on the regiment of benidryl 3 x daily and since there was no treatment for Mono - I just lightened her load as much as possible [including making her give up her starting position on her school basket ball team - which neither she nor the coach was too happy about! but the doctor told me it was a must because she could easily rupture her spleen if she has an accident with mono.] Well anyway no complaints from the daughter for a good week. She started back to school last Monday with out incident but Sunday she kills over on the Alter at church [she was alter serving]. I had to drag her off the alter. Our doctor goes to church with us so she looks her over and says to get her in to see her right away. So I take Whitney to see her today.
Guess what she has?! Head lice!! She has had it for the past 3 weeks. No mono. [They ran blood work to confirm it]. Her head was literally crawling with it. I feel horrible about it and I'm about to go Tango Johnny on the doctor that mis-diagnoised the head lice. First of all, he ruined my Christmas trip as I went to my Grandfather's 90th birthday party at a fancy ski resort here in Oregon but had to leave early for fear the daughter would get the old man sick!
I'm so darn mad! I can't believe that darn doctor misdiagnosed this! To make matters worse and even more stressful at the pattymcn household but my darling husband thinks to help me delouse the place means I need him to practice his guitar! Yeah, that's a lot of help!
I have washed and de nixed daughters hair twice. Washed all her bedding and her brothers along with ours. I have washed 5 loads of laundry, cooked dinner and mean while I feel as if I have bugs crawling ALL OVER ME! [luckily none of the other 4 of us have symptoms yet!] Plus to make matters even more worse than they are! I have 4 dogs in season and my two male dogs are literally howling non stop! [Thank GOD for electronic intervention!] It's a wonder why I drink?
So, hows everyone else doing? Patty
