Bless you!!
As hard as I have tired, some of the abbreviations go right over my head. But like I tell hubby all the time (No offense blondes) I am a blonde stuck in a brunettes body and I can't find the zipper.
Proof being, I can't figure out some abbreviations !

BBT means BIG BROWN TRUCK aka the UPS truck. A term of endearment for C&R license holders as we can have our (old) guns shipped right to our front door. And also for people who buy large quanities of ammo

FUBAR - Fouled up beyond all recognition

SNAFU - Situation Normal, All Fouled Up

ARFCOM - They are referring to the website, WWW.AR15.COM. F is the number number 15 in hexadecimal computer counting, ie 1=1, 2=2,....9=9, 10=A, 11=B, 12=C 13=D, 14=E, & 15=F.

ROP - Religion of Peace, referring to Muslims.

My favs are:

ICYDK (or) ICYDR = In Case You Didn't Know (or) In Case You Didn't Realize
FWIW (been listed) (For what it's worth)
DNFOTTBSP = Do Not Feed Or Tease The BIGOTED Straight People
(Please do NOT anyone take offense of that one, it's only used in instances like the jerk who said if his son turned out queer he'd kill him. Or when some asshat''s REALLY showing his colors and one needs to "clue in" the other queers on the board to not even bother - it's a waste of time and bandwidth.) I think I've used it twice on this board in over a year.

I'd NEVER post it in GD - but I've only seen cool straight guys in the "women's" area.... and IMO, by their very nature, the asshats I'd rather be puzzled by that acronymn, wouldn't come in here as they're likely also misogynists ;)

OooH, I forgot, IMOA = In My Opinion Anyway.

Anyone here see "Good Morning Vietnam?" There was a segment in there wher Robin Williams does a whole long slew of military ones in a few short sentences...funny as all get out.
Something like:
The GI's from HQ are doing PT in the AM from the Delta to the DMZ blah blah
I dunno...I just remember laughing myself silly in the movie theatre trying to put them all together...

see, I learned something new today........I thought the "F" in ARFCOM, just stood for "Fifteen", one keystroke instead of two, (15)......never though of it in hexadecimal terms......probably because I'm so far removed from my computer classes, I now no longer think in terms of numbers..................and I've been wondering what ROP was........thanks!

You might want to update the link in the post by mppppp on the first page.  That link points to an old version of the AR-15 acronym list that no longer exists.  The replacement list is here.

Since the above list is in the AR Discussions technical forum, I try to keep it focused mostly on AR-related acronyms, but it does contain some non-technical acronyms commonly used on AR15.com and also links to sites where you can look up general acronyms.

Please feel free to post in that thread with questions if you run across an acronym that you can't figure out.  I'll do my best to help.

MPI - Magnetic Particle Inspection
BOTD - Babe Of The Day
IBTGH - In Before The ??? (you have a link to where this was posted?)

That is the MPI I was told by one member, but it turned out it was a nastier M than that... I don't remember which thread it was, but I think it was in the team forum... Thanks though

Not strictly an acronym, but "bubba'd" refers to taking a cheap surplus gun (like an SKS or a Mosin Nagant) and removing it's historical and financial value by modifying it to become more "tacticool" - by adding a synthetic stock, removable magazine, sights, etc. Unfortunately, as there are a finite number of these guns, once the huge supply runs out, and they become worth more, the people who "bubba'd" their guns typically bitch and moan. They also run the risk of breaking mad U.S. import laws.
