I spent about 3 hours cleaning guns last night. I did not know that they could get so nasty. I thought that my husband had it easy all he had to do after a shoot was to clean a few guns. But I now know different.

I picked up some Hoppes today. I put together a cleaning kit so I would have every thing I need together. one level for every cal. in a tackel box.

I hire my cleaning out to a little old lady that lives down the way. I give her a fifth and let her go to town.

O.K. I'll admit it.  I only clean mine every couple of weeks of shooting, or if they start to cycle weird, whichever comes first.

I don't know if it's really necessary.  I know accuracy freaks that never clean and I know people that clean every couple of shots.  Seems wierd to me.

I've never let them get as nasty as some I've seen at fun shows though......  Yuck.

I always help my husband clean rifles or pistols after shooting.  Our motto is if you shoot it clean it.  I also think that a weapon that has been properly maintained will last longer, is safer and will be more dependable.  We have spent too much money on our hobby of collecting and shooting to not take care of them.
