America and Quebec were anathema to each other because of the latter's French heritage and, especially, its Catholicism.
The Quebec Act of 1774 pretty much sealed the fate of the Francophones- as long as the Quebecois did not oppose British aims elsewhere, it guaranteed them freedom of religion, language and culture, something which stuck in the craw of the Protestant Anglo Yankees, esp. in New England, for many years to come.
The Quebec Act also ensured that the Quebecois would be allies of the British, not only in the Rev. War, but also in the War of 1812. Also, let's not forget- the Continentals tried twice to invade Quebec in the American War of Independence, the first in 1775, with disastrous results- we got our butts kicked at the city gates of Quebec.
US and Quebec allies? Not likely.
