Just read "Ghost Soldiers", by Hampton Sides.   Fabulous book about the raid on Cabanatuan to rescue the remaining, living prisoners from the Bataan Death March in January, 1945.  It is extremely well researched and written.  I highly recommend it.  I layed over at Clark AB a couple of times during the Vietnam war and never knew I was so close to history.  Wish I had known then, what I know now.  It would have been nice to tour Bataan, Corregidor, O'Donnell and Cabanatuan.  Of course, there were other more pressing matters in those days. . .

That is an outstanding book. Those people went through hell. I still have not seen the film "The Great Raid" based on those events but look forwrd to it.
