i was wondering what type of gear a 82nd soldier would carry into operation urgent fury in grenada in 1983?

would they carry the following?

Pistol belt
m16 ammo pouchx2
canteen and coverx2
OD butt Pack
Y Suspeners
Compass Pouch

IIRC, some units had K-pots then. When I joined in '85, the K-pot was regular issue in USAEUR, but when I got to 1CD in Jan '87, we still wore the steel pot until late that year.

- Bandage pouch (& compression bandage).
- Some guys carried a carabiner on the front of the LBE strap.

Add a bayonet and/or some type of issue or personal combat knife.    A poncho, poncho liner, and possibly an isopad,.

I did not know that.  Quite interesting.  The first time I saw the K-Pot was in Airborne School in late 1988.  I went through Infantry OSUT with the Steel Pot.
