Yuppo... totally legal. In fact it wouldn't even be considered a Post-Ban upper since the features are what really determine whether an upper is "pre" or "post ban", not the part itself. Since you put the original barrel back on with the flash hider and bayonet lug I assume, most of us would consider that a pre-ban upper based on configuration.
So long as the lower was assembled into a complete rifle with all the "evil" features prior to September 14, 1994 then it is considered a pre-ban rifle. It can then be changed and modified with uppers in any configuration (provided they have a barrel length of at least 16" to conform with our NFA rules) and it will retain it's pre-ban status. Thanks DarkHelmet that helps a lot...
By the way. Yes, the gun was complete when I got it with all the original "evil" features just like it was when it came out of the factory in 1984. The rifle was 85% overall..but for 635$US it was a steal !! I had to refinish the lower cause the idiot who had it had his name engraved on it[spank]. Everything is OK now.... I'll try to post pics of it when I have some !! Once again, thanks !! |

I hate when people do that to rifles..... my grandfather has some INCREDIBLY VALUABLE firearms that are for the most part in pristine condition.... and then he went and engraved his Driver's License number on all of them. If he were alive today he'd get one hell of a tongue lashing from me for that! |
