I have a friend who wants to buy my 1911, and insists that no paperwork is necessary between private parties.I just moved here in February.The pistol was originally purchased in Nort Dakota.Holding sale upon good advice, want to do it right.

You need to check AZ law, but private intrastate [within the same state] sales are seldom regulated by state laws.  

Try the NRA website.

in az there is no paper work between private sales as long as both the seller and the buyer are az residents its ok

AZ allows private party sales, as long as:

- Both buyer and seller are AZ residents
- Buyer is at least 18
- You have no reason to believe that the buyer cannot legally own a gun (felon or mental)
