It makes it too difficult to sight properly from your shoulder. Collapsed may look cool and be ok for a quick shot in close-quarters combat, but you really need for the rifle to be accurate at a distance too.

Next time you are at a gun show, pick up a preban with the stock collapsed - you'll see what I mean.

I almost broke my nose two months ago when my stock was fully closed and I assumed it was fully open....
