I see alot of FFL kits out there and was wondering is it really possible to obtain a FFL without a business?

It's not hard.

1.  Check your local laws.  You will need a business premises that complies with local zoning requirements.  This can be your house if your town permits it.  Otherwise you will need to rent commercial property.

2.  Obtain a local business license.  This involves registering for a sales tax number.

3.  Fill out the FFL application packet.  Return to ATF with checks and fingerprints.

4.  Wait.

5.  Get a field interview from an ATF inspector.

6.  Receive license 4-8 weeks later.

It's not that hard.  Those "become a FFL" kits are a waste of money - the forms are free and you should do it yourself.
