I have heard this from more than one person who lives near Tampa, FL.  Can anyone officially confirm this?

hmmm.... haven't heard that.  Wouldn't surprise me, though.  NJ did it...  don't know if something like that could be done unless it was on the state level...

I just checked with 2 of the local (both within the City of Tampa) gun stores, and their reactions were:

1. Hogwash!

2. What a bunch of SH*T!

Both told me that whoever is spreading this rumor is miss-informed.

Florida preempts municipalities from creating gun laws, except for Age, Trigger Locks, and Waiting Periods. I know that Palm Beach either considered or passed a child trigger lock law. Flagler county I believe has an extended waiting period. Outside of these 3, no other law can be created. Hollowpoints are too common to ban at a county or city level. It would create too much confusion. Here in Orlando I use Hollowpoints at the range.
