Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question about transfer b/w family members in NJ

Do you have to go through a FFL holder to do a transfer between family members?  The gun involved is a semiauto shotgun (no evil features), and it is going from VA to NJ.  Thanks for your help.

As long as the recipient has a NJ FOID, no sweat.  Handguns ae another matter.

Getting the FOID is usually no big deal, unless your local Chief is a real dick.

Norm - Do you mean that if I have the Firearms ID card (which I do), I don't have to go through a FFL?
