For a rifle it's 16" bbl and 26" overall. |

Circuits has it right, for the FEDERAL standards.
In the PRK, any rifle (or maybe just semi-auto?) less than 30" is an AW. -Troy |

By federal law, to not be a Short Barreled Rifle, the rifle must have: a 16" barrel and be over 26" long with the telescoping/collapsing stock extended, if so equipped. So, theoretically, you could have a gun only 16" long with the stock collapsed, such as an NEF rifle with a folding stock, as long as the stock extended 10".

Very interesting, I know that in FL it is 16" for a rifle bbl and 18" for a shotgun bbl.
Anybody know FL's standard for Overall Length of a rifle?? Also, the length for a shotgun would be nice too. |
