If a current LEO has a LEO restricted AR-15 he bought with his own money on Dept. Letterhead and quits or leaves he currently has 2 options as i understand. 1) is to sell it to a FFL holder, 2) have the gun donated to the Dept. then the Dept. retires the weapon with you and gives letter saying so.
Now my question is this, with the AWB set to expire in Sept of 2004 the LEo would be set. But if the ban expires and 1 week later it is enacted again (like everyone thinks GWB will do) if the LEO had this weapon during the 1 week he is legally the owner. Would this then be considered his weapon or will he have to do the same as before-donate gun and then Dept. retires gun with officer?
