Good afternoon folks. Had an interesting question posed to me today and I had no answer for it whatsoever.

Is it legal to keep a suppressor, and only the suppressor, in Washington DC? No firearm, no ammo, nothing else - just the suppressor, assuming all relevant stamps and paperwork were kept with it/on person in compliance with NFA guidelines.

I can't find anything saying it would be illegal, but I do know threaded barrels are illegal in DC. All the laws on the DC books seem to be very specific about firearms and features of firearms, but not something like a suppressor which is regulated but not a firearm. Anyone have any thoughts?

IB4 "blah blah blah tell the person to move out of DC." Just answer the question
