Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - FFL within a school zone?

Hello folks,
While filling out an FFL application, I thought for a moment where I live... 6/10 of a mile from a grade school. I've looked online for a few hours and haven't found anywhere that there is a "1 mile" zone from which an FFL must not operate near a school but remember hearing something to the effect once upon a time. I read mentions of a 1000 foot school zone but I am talking about the operation as an FFL dealer, from home, within a mile of a school.
Anyone know for certain?

BATF is going to require that you are in compliance with all local regulations and zoning laws, whatever those may be in your area.  You'll have to do some research and find out.

In my town, they passed the "1,000 feet from any church or school" restriction.  That eliminates 90+% of the town's property from eligibility.
