Ill be staying in a condo on a slope somewhere in Breckenridge Colorado in January.  Anybody know laws for open carry there?

I gave the Breckenridge PD a call but the deputy was clueless and offered me the law for carrying a firearm in a vehicle.  When I told him I wanted to carry on my person he freaked out, said there was a law for it, and then he told that they "sincerely ask" that I dont carry on my person.

He then told me he'd look it up and give me a call back.

Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Try www.packing.org.  This site normally has all the laws for each state.  However, there may be local laws that also apply and contacting the PD & SO as you did is about the only way to find out.

God, I can see the people's reaction at a major ski area (many of which will have never seen anyone carrying other than police).  Even if legal you will probably spend more time talking to the police than you will skiing.

If it's legal and you do this please post when you return.  It should be a very interesting experience for you and  for us to learn about.

The state of Colorado does not prohibit open carry. But there may be local ordinances against it. Contact the Summit County Sheriff or County Attorney's office to check.
