I know it's a newbie question, but here it goes.

Why does everyone enter gun serial # 123xxx. Is posting all of the number like posting your credit card?

There are alot of eyes viewing here, some who might run the numbers for the heck of it. Besides those first few serial numbers are generally the ones that denotes Pre or Post ban weapons, which is useful when selling or buying.
