I want to know about the AWB running out.  Can someone point me to a source of learning about this?  Does it mean we can have new hi-cap mags after it runs out? Thanks for the info.

The assault weapon ban runs out (sunsets) 10 years o the day after it was enacted. That will be September 13, 2004. After that, none of the restrictions currently imposed by the assault weapons ban will be in place any longer, unless a new ban is passed. The senators/congressmen YOU elct, will vote on the issue of a new ban, should it come to the floor.

Historically, the party with a sitting president loses seats in the election, so probably the democrats will have the majority in 2004. Bush claimed during his campaign that he supported the AW Ban, but hopefully he will be afraid to piss of his conservative base just before the election. Hopefully he will veto  the bill, and the Democrats wont be able to override.
