I wasn't aware that the Auto-Ordinance guns wouldn't work with the original style mags, This must be a recent change. As long as the rifle would still work with both style mags I don't see any reason why you couldn't alter the mag catch to accept the original mags.

That would be a good question to throw out to the "Machinegun Books" web site. Those guys are always talking about making this modification to their AO Tommy guns, so there must be a lot of members over there who feel confident that it is legal. Maybe someone on that site has a letter from the BATF, saying its ok.
