I am aquainted with one of the guys building that for Magpul. It's pretty impressive.

Only real cool (and practical) Unimog is this beat, an excavator model, and I could have used this over the past two days to dig the fuck out of this nasty white death we're dealing with!

They do, a friend of mine owned a pretty nice one, purchased from Ca. Dept. of Forestry if memory serves me correct, was one with a sleeper and utlility box attached (OEM) and even had a workable turret hatch over the passenger seat. That thing was a BEAST, very impressive piece of machinery.

Edit:
My buddies actually looked exactly like this, minus the diamondplating and the spotlight, same color and all.

That bad boy would suck on a long drive even with the "fast axles"...
I do like it though Unimog's are without peer...
All it needs is twin miniguns rooftop mounted with the passenger side hatch

Pics of interior??

I would buy one.

Now all we need to do is scream and yell that we want this, wait 3 years amid metric tons of hype and speculation, watch MagPul finish it, begin to bring to production, then sell off the whole deal to Chrysler, and promptly pay 4x the original price 3 years before......

i would think that narrow of a wheel base and that high of a center of gravity would be detrimental to offroading.  seems to me you are asking to roll that mofo.

No idea. But it looks real expensive. No cut corners anywhere. The front winch bumper is made of something like 60 pieces (can't remember exactly) welded together.

When I was in the Danish army, I saw Land Rovers and Mercedes G's roll (although that was partly because of the TOW launcher making it top-heavy), and I saw larger Magirus trucks roll, but I don't think I ever saw an Unimog roll.  I'm not trying to say it can't be done - I'm sure it happened, obviously.  I'm just saying it wasn't a common problem.

They really are quite amazing off road.

I'll take your word on it cause that is the first time i've ever seen one, that was just my gut reaction when looking at it.

Isn't this called the C.... I was an operator of one back in the early 90's for a week straight on the CA/Mexican boarder building a boarder fence.

Do a search for "truck trials" on youtube.  They do some amazing things with Unimogs.  I saw video on one going down such a steep grade that it flipped over forward.

It definitely LOOKS top-heavy, but the design of the suspension and four-wheel drive and all that complicated power transfer and gearing stuff , as well as the wheel size, just makes it unbelievably effective off-road.

until you start taking inclines at a side angle like this guy does with it..it won't be long before he rolls over, hope we get to see that clip when it happens
