Anyone compare the amount of flash an AR-15 would have with about a 16 inch barrel and no muzzle device compared to one with a flash hider? Just trying to compare pros and cons of post and pre. And this query is assuming you are using a pretty low flash load.

With a normal A2 flashider the flash is still quite noticable on a 14.5" M4 profile barrel. With a bare muzzle on a 20" HBAR the flash is gigantic. Big enough to engulf your head.

Then with a vortex on the 14.5" barrel the flash all but disappears.

These were completely unscientific tests performed using regular factory ammo (Federal IIRC) Take it for what it's worth.

Given this, how is a person to utilize Night Vision with post ban??? For example on a Aimpoint/6015 setup is there some sort of filter you can get for the Aimpoint where is won't washout the 6015???

I use Vortex FS, and have absolutely nothing visible from the rear. I have shot next to a Mini-14 that had a huge orange/yellow fireball that appeared to be about 4' long and 1'wide.
