[b]JERUSALEM (March 5) - Negotiations with the Palestinian Authority cannot begin until the Palestinians are hit hard enough so they realize they cannot achieve anything through terrorism, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told reporters at an impromptu briefing in the Knesset cafeteria yesterday.

IAF planes and helicopter gunships last night attacked PA headquarters in Gaza City, Bethlehem, and Ramallah, firing missiles at a military intelligence building only 10 meters from PA Chairman Yasser Arafat's office in Ramallah. No casualties were reported in the attacks, but 20 Palestinians were killed in earlier IDF operations.

Explaining the security cabinet's decision Sunday night to intensify operations against the PA, Sharon said the IDF will hit the PA harder than ever and deal it blow after blow until the Palestinians beg for mercy in negotiations.

"I want to conduct negotiations, but we cannot do that until the Palestinians are hit very hard," Sharon said. "They thought that by raising the level of terror, they could achieve more than on the diplomatic track. Now, they will have to endure many harsh blows until they see that they were mistaken." [/b]

I know of at least one person on this site thats glad to hear this, besides me.

Much of the time as I watch the news and see whats been going on in Israel, Im pissed off for them. Ive been waiting for them to just wipe them all out for along time.

I'm not stupid enough to believe this will bring peace to the region. There will never be peace until Jesus comes back. And according to Ezeikiel (sp) They still have to turn Damascus (Syria) into a heap of rubbel.

So we still have a lot to see. A lot more wars to come. Its getting worse every day all over the world. If you know anything, just a small part of the Bible you can't ignor whats going on. I think we are pass coincidence at this stage.

My main point to this is, Its about time.....

On a lighter note, Its like seeing your favorite football team lose all the time when they are good enough to win. Like the Dallas cowboys. Its painfull to watch. But I watch anyway. Im not Jewish, just a mix breed mut American thats always for the underdog.

Once again, Arafat and his comrades may be overplaying their hand!

The last time they did this, Sharon was the people's choice. They are counting on Sharon losing his position and being replaced by a labor party Prime Minister!

They may get Benjamin Netanyahu, instead! Haha!

Wow, ILIKELEGS actually beat Eric to the story post! GOOD JOB! [:)]

I say bomb the PA back into the stone age, but that would only put them back 2 years, so what's the point? Annex the whole region, clear the Muslims out and close the borders. Then dare the whole muslim world to do something about it (so they do) then we back the israelis up and conquer the whole middle east, divide the land and resources and create the first Disney Land in Mecca.

Any takers on my proposal?

I wonder if this "make them beg" strategy will work.

Although there must be some level of violence that would make the Palestinians back down, I suspect that the Israelis would sacrifice more than they can afford to lose in world (especially US) opinion before reaching that point. Destroy facilities and the PA will wind up getting money to rebuild them; destroy people and the PA gets more martyrs for the cause.

you'll have to excuse some of us for our lack of enthusiasm.
some of us are not arrogant enough to be sure of coming out for the better after the end of the world.
but then, since youre so certain that youre among the chosen, feel free to hope for armageddon. hey, it's a free country!

All these wars, the destruction, the killing....For what?

Why wouldn't Arafat accepted the deal extended to him from Israel while they were here in the U.S? (During the final days of Clinton). That was the best deal he can ever had.

Instead, he have chosen war, a war that he cannot win. Why?

Arafat is not a good or a smart leader. He brought the Palestinians into the path of destruction and extermination. If I were the Palestinians, I would get rid of him soon. The sooner the better.
