I and a couple of friends are thinking about making and selling quality wood toy gun replicas as a fun little side venture. We have a killer Tommy gun, as well as an AR15 and M60 ready to go. The only concern is, of course, laws enacted by our dear Congresscritters. It looks like the 100th congress (1987-1988) had a banner year for stupidity, resulting in a 1988 law regulating toy gun sales. This was also the year lawn darts were banned!

My question: what is the language of this 1988 law? I'll be darned if my surfing has turned it up yet.

Thanks for your scholarly help!

Hey, if they are wooden, can't you just stain them (hopefully they have a nice grain) and get by with that?

Somewhat like the wooden airplanes that are being sold now at the gun shows?

It looks like the guns will have to have orange on the barrels to make Big Brother happy. Of course, the end user may simply repaint the barrel as he wishes once it is taken home. We will probably have a few of these at our next local gunshow to gauge interest.
