I need to know if things are faster, slower, or about the same. Most of the info on the what's and why's is in the following post in the news forum:

About same or just a little faster than last week but much slower than last month.
Slow is better than none. |
Really slow right now, but I bet that's because everyone is jumping back on.
Right now, it's slower than a .22 Short. Hopefully later, it'll be faster than a .17 Rem [:)]
It took ~35 seconds for the "manageReply.html" screen to load to the point that I can start typing my reply. It was ~1:05 before the existing responses showed up. It took ~2:10 before the "Document: Done" showed up at the bottom of the page.

SLOOOOOOOOOOW.
Of course, it is faster than growing grass, and comparable to paint drying. |
I have a cable modem connection. Despite that, it took almost three minutes to get to the reply screen from when I hit the 'reply' button.
It's slower than molasses in January. It'd take less time to get Dianne Feinstein to admit that criminals cause crime and guns are just hardware. It's so slow that I think Microsoft is involved somehow. If it doesn't get a LOT better, and SOON, it'll be too frustrating to be worth the time. CJ |

Sorta' slow here...of course it has never been very fast with my Super High Speed Belt Fed Water Cooled Dial Up Internet Connection.
They must not feed the hamsters enough. medcop |
I can drink a beer in the time it takes for a page to load......SLOW
About twice as fast as it was between the first crash and the loss of the server, but not what I would consider a fast site.
Ok update... seems there's a problem with the line, they're coming to check it tomorrow afternoon (bastards!). The tech says its anywhere from their main connection to the servers. (Duuuuh!) [=D]
I apologize for this, seems I'm doing that a lot lately. I honestly wish this was something in our control, but unfortunately we need this short term solution to work. The worst case scenario is a slow site for a month or so while we get the lines out to us. Cross your fingers and hope that tomorrow things are better!!! Oh and keep in mind that however frustrated you are, we're probably 10-100% worse... |
Horribly slow...
Took a good 5+ minutes to open this thread, log in, and post my reply... I'll check the site in a few days... I don't have the patience to sit and stare at a blank screen for minutes at a time... Glad the site is still "breathing" at least... |
Reply screen up in 20 seconds, site a little slow. Good to see it back!! Thanks GB!!!!
Change of vote--
The site is now so slow that I am about to log off. Over 2 minutes per page load. |
Looks about the same on my side. Nice to be back, I missed this place!
It's slow, much slower than ever. But, at least it's cured my withdrawl symptoms.
Very slow on my cable as well, but, I'll take slow over not at all anytime. [:)]
Log in took 17 minutes and the page never did finish loading.
Reply screen took 14 minutes more and the screen did not finish loading. I was watching the Olympics, so it wasn't as bad as just waiting. Something is definitely not good with this new configuration! |
Very slow. I am on a fast cable modem. All other sites are ok.

56K V90 - running a lot slower than before, the stuff held in cache loads okay, but the banner adds take longer to load.
Glad to see us back in service though! |
Again, I talked to the tech guys and had them check the lines remotely and they said there is a definite problem! They're coming out tomorrow to hopefully find out what the hell went so terribly wrong! (Tomorrow 4pm EST roughly!)
We'll keep everyone posted on the situation and when the final solution will be put into place! |
It's so slow I couldn't even wait for all of the replies to load before I posted. After two or three minutes I could see about the top 5 of them or so then I hit reply.
Next, I developed an intercranial bleed and had to go to the hospital. As soon as I got back this reply screen was just finishing up loading. Please Goatboy....help!!! full-auto.com is fun and all, but I need my ar15.com!!!!! |
It's freaking slooooowwwww!!
Captain!! We've only got impulse power!! View Quote But hey, I can stop twitching now! :) T |
Hmmm. I won't be mean about it, but it is very slow.............
Glad to be back though!! DK [:D] |
very slow. especially the "Active Topics" link. This reply page is the only page I could get to completely download in less than 5 minutes
Hey Goatboy!
How are you hosting the site now? Do you have a T1/E1/? line to your server at home or are you using an remote server? As for your question, its slow but i'm sure in time it'll be faster. |
Slow...but will check back tomorrow as well. Thanks GB for all that you do and have done for this site!!!!!!!!!!
I'm telling you, this "problem in the lines" thing is just a dodge. GoatBoy got a good deal, so he upgraded the site to a Commodore 64 and a 9600 baud modem. He's still working the bugs out of the new system though...
Right now it is seriously slower. I would guess this is a temporary condition though.
Slow. Very slow. I'm on dialup Earthlink, and it is really slower than before.
I'm convinced you are being hosted on an IBM 80286 with a 2400 baud modem.
It sucks bad right now. |
Might I suggest that, until this is fixed, you change the domain name to www.muzzle-loader.com? [;)]
GB:
I'm on a cable modem and it is dragging like molasses in January. A little worse than my dialup in Puerto Rico, which maxed at 28.8. Could you drop the banners/graphics to speed it up? I waited five minutes for page two to finish, and I finally gave up and just posed a reply. But as has been said, better slow than none. Good to see everyone again. |
Thank you for all your hard work.
We're really glad the site is back. You will get the problems fixed. I don't know how you did this much in just a couple of days. |
sux. Average of 2 minute wait on my end. Feels like this site is on someones dsl connection at home.
Didnt mention it this in an earlier post in this thread, so I'll state it before I retire to bed, hoping the site is a lil quicker tomorrow.
GB and the rest of the Avila clan: Your hard work on this site does not go unnoticed!!! Thanks guys!!!!! T |
