Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - What "exactly" does the ignore button do???

If I hit the "ignore button, does that just ignore that poster from my screen or everyones?  Does it ignore them permanantly or just for that thread?  I have never hit the ignore button, so I really am unsure how it works.  Can someone inform me simply?

Ignores that poster just for you, for the entire board.  It collapses their posts so you can't see them.



Also prevents them from IMing you.
